At the beginning of the year I told myself I'd try new hobbies, so let this be the start of a new column!

Ombre denim is in and it’s a great way to spice up your ol’ Daisy Dukes and will make you feel real crafty and cool, so here we go.

You’re going to need a few things like:

* A pair of cut off denim shorts (make sure you cut them way up the ass so as to show off the bottom of your butt cheek.)

* You need something you can mess up like an old bucket.

* Bottle of Rit dye in a cool color of your choice.

* Some kind of measuring device, I suggest a shot glass.

* Gloves so you don’t F up your manicure.

Now here’s what you do:  

* Rinse off the shorts with water.

* Then put 2 1/2 shots of Rit dye into about 2 gallons of hot water and mix it.

* Put the bottom half of your shorts into the dye mixture and wait about 10 minutes. This will give you time to text one of your friends and brag about how you’re actually doing a craft, and then put on the gloves.

* Ring out the excess dye and add two 1/2 more shots of dye to your bucket.

* Dip your shorts only about 1/3 of the way in so that the very bottom will now get darker than the top two layers.

* Let them soak this way for about 5 minutes.

* Rinse the shit out of your shorts till the water runs clear like vodka.
